Privacy Policy
Watabook is a car-maintenance logbook. It is built to keep your data on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Watabook has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not have a server that stores your information.
Everything you enter — vehicles, service and fuel entries, reminders, documents, fault-code history — is saved only in the app's private storage on your phone. Documents you add to the vault are encrypted on the device.
When the app uses the internet
Watabook works fully offline. It contacts the network only for these features, and only when you use them:
- “Explain simply” (AI): sends the fault code, your car's make, your chosen language, and a random app identifier (not linked to you) to our processing service, which asks Google Gemini for a plain-language explanation. Your name, email, or location are never sent.
- VIN decode: sends the 17-character VIN you type to the U.S. NHTSA public vehicle database to fill in the make, model and year.
- Purchases: subscription and restore are handled by Apple / Google billing and by RevenueCat, which receives a purchase receipt and its own anonymous identifier — not your identity.
- Export & share: when you export a CSV or PDF, or share a document, your device's own share sheet sends it wherever you choose. Watabook does not transmit it.
All of these connections use HTTPS.
Your control
- Delete any entry, document, or vehicle in the app at any time.
- Uninstalling Watabook permanently removes all of its data from your device.
- There is no server-side data to delete because we do not keep any.
- Export everything as CSV whenever you want — your data is never locked in.
Children
Watabook is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change and the new version will be published here.
